I’ve seen from other posts that DHL will request an EORi number as part of the import process into the UK.
I’ve been looking into how to get an EORI number and have a question: EORI numbers seem to apply/be issued only to businesses. What is the process for an individual importing a Onefinity?
Even the HMRC website says an EORI number isn’t required for a personal import.
So how have individuals (as opposed to businesses) responded to DHL’s request for an EORI number?
I had the same question, and asked Onefinity how the import duty is managed. They did not respond, in fact I am having difficulty in getting any useful responses from them. The only thing I am assuming is that that post you refer to was some time ago. I am guessing that with modern technology things may have moved on and the courier will handle most of it and invoice the recipient… here’s hoping that’s the case
I think I may have it correct, this is from the HMRC website regarding import duty and VAT
You’ll be contacted by Royal Mail, Parcelforce or the courier company if you need to pay any VAT, duty or delivery charges (‘handling fees’) to receive your goods.
"They’ll send you a bill stating exactly which fees you need to pay.
They’ll normally hold your parcel for about 3 weeks. If you have not paid the bill by then, your parcel will be returned to the sender."
I eventually received an answer from Onfinity and they also confirm that their couriers DPD will invoice the fees on arrival in UK… cant wait to receive my Elite Woodworker with 2.2kw spindle… sometime in the new year.
I think you should be assured that if you have ordered from Onefinity for delivery to UK. That all customs and VAT payments will be invoiced to you by the courier, in this case DPD…
