Err14 with Redline Spindle/Com Error/USB Disconnected

Received my machine 2 weeks and started to set it up post making my table!!! Everything worked great until setting up the spindle.

  1. Completed setup and ran home position several times and jogged randomly

  2. Trouble started from here

  3. Connected the spindle and all connections and checked several time via posts and online guide. (I will attached images of the connections) Disregard the cable mess, I wanted to get it to run first before final placement

  4. Post connection

    A) Powered on the HMI

B)Com Error comes up on the HMI (Verified connections again…Good)

C)Powered on the controller and DRO and tried to reset, No Good, Nothing happens and Err14 remains

D)Went back to the HMI to try to detect controller or bypass however the screen is locked up. Only way to move forward is completely power off.

E)Tried both sets of cables from the controller and DRO still no good

F)Tried Err14 step however HMI not fully working…

G)Reviewed as many posts as possible…

  5. Went back to step one where all was good and now post selecting bypass controller there is a USB Disconnected error and the HMI unit can only be powered off by the power switch.

Added a few screen caps and connection pics… Ok I can only add one image at this time.

Wanted to start with the forums before sending help request to OneFinity.

Any Advice?

Thank you for the feedback. I walked completely through the Error Code 14 recovery with no success. I am wondering it is a USB cable issue since the USB Disconnected is always flashing. Must be part of the com issue. If I disconnected the VFD and USB from the RTS-2 the HMI work after a power cycle. If not the cable I suspect the RTS-2?

Try the usb to a computer and see if the rtx box will connect to the pc/mac software

Worked with the incredible support of Onefinity and Redline to solve the problem.

The issue in short: Motion Controller was not recognizing the USB connection

Redline Troubleshooting:

Your HMI is not connecting to the motion controller. On your HMI screen, in the bottom right is a USB logo. If this logo is yellow, you’re NOT connected. If this logo is flashing green, you ARE connected. The Err 14 is a disconnect in communication between the VFD and motion controller. Since the motion controller, is not connected to the HMI, the communication is stopped, which gives the Err14.

We need to see a video of:

  • Unplug everything from the motion controller except the USB cable that goes to the HMI.

  • Unplug everything from the HMI except the power cable that plugs into the wall and the USB cable. Remove everything else, even stuff on the side USB ports.

  • Ensure the USB cable is plugged into the back of the HMI.

  • Power on the HMI

  • Does the program load and you see the Main page

    Or

Does it show Controller not connected?

If it shows the Main page and a flashing green USB logo at the bottom right, you are connected.

If it shows Controller not Connected, do the following:

  • Unplug the USB cable from the back of the HMI and plug into a side USB port.

  • Power on the HMI

  • Does the program load and you see the Main page

    Or

Does it show Controller not connected?

If it shows the Main page and a flashing green USB logo at the bottom right, you are connected.

If it shows Controller not Connected, do the following:

  • Unplug the USB cable from that side port of the HMI and plug into the other side USB port.

  • Power on the HMI

  • Does the program load and you see the Main page

    Or

Does it show Controller not connected?

Started the spindle break-in today!!!
