Total newbie here. I got my base together, double-thick top of MDF and veneered plywood, and waited patiently for this day. Journeyman X-50 Pro set up, redline 65mm spindle installed and broken in, suck-it dust boot (thanks Onefinity for quickly sending one out when it didn’t make it in the original shipment), and Rowdy’s hose boom in place. I researched and set up my spoil board and put the flattening bit in place. Created my own flattening file and grid in Carveco. This is my day. Set the Z with the probe and…Go!
Only…I didn’t measure the lowest point in the spoil board when setting Z. So there’s a section that didn’t get cut. No big deal, but I ran the file a little slower as a precaution so I have about 44 minutes to kill as it goes through the flattening file again. Also, I didn’t position the dust boot low enough the first time and was so excited to start that I forgot to turn on the dust collector in the first few passes. You guys weren’t kidding when you said it made an awful mess.
I can’t wait to change tools and run the grid next! Almost makes you forget you have work in the morning…
I’m hooked.
