Group consensus on an MPG?

Yes, much cheaper there for sure, about $100 cheaper if i remember right but could be wrong, I think most was shipping. it has been awhile since i purchased mine. I got mine from Masso in Australia, I bought mine before Pwncnc started selling them.

If OF does not sell it they have no reason to delete the post.

Well i did it I ordered the masso MPG pendant from “They who’s name shall not be mentioned” but they were not a hundred dollars cheaper they were about 30 dollars cheaper than ordering from masso.184 VS 217 still it is a savings. I have got to stop spending money damn it! the other benifit to ordering the masso version is OF does recommend them so I am pretty sure that sometime in the future OF will be supporting these as well. ok time to install the stepper motors.

Okay. I just placed my order too. Why does it cost so much every time I save money?

Robert, did you ever find someone to print the stepper motor wire covers for you? If not, let me know. I have a 3D printer and can print them for you.

i just got some in the mail today but they were wrong the little slat top ones were way to hard to even put in and the two big orange covers don’t seem to fit anywhere 39 bucks down the drain. i got them on etsy and now i am hoping to return them and get my money back

Once I put my machine together, I’m going to print the ones that @blaghislain uploaded. If they fit correctly, I’ll can print some for you too.

goes back kinda to the saying, the only difference between men and the boys is the price of their toys. LOL

When i come into the house with a package, my wife just turns her head and walks the other way ignoring me for an hr or so. Then we go get a pedicure and all is well again.

Isn’t it usually the women that go shopping, buy everything on sale, then say “just think how much I saved!”?

I just got my machine a couple of month ago, so I’m still very new to the game. So far, I don’t really get the value add of an MPG.

I use a Touch Probe to set my XYZ for every job and the Tool Setter for Z height on bit changes during a job. Even with laser jobs, I set my X & Y with a bit and the Touch Probe then let the offsets correct for the laser position. Someday, I will receive the ATC to automate it even a little more…

Where does the MPG come in to add convenience/speed to things, especially at very small resolutions? With the Touch Probe, I’m just getting the bit close and letting the probing function dial it in…what are the types of jobs that call for manually dialing in the positions?

Thanks!

Craig

For me, it would be when the X,Y zero is not necessarily the corner of the workpiece. Such as something that is registered off of a feature or location on a bigger piece of material. Or a material too thin to put the probe block on.

For sure the probe and block will allow you to use it without a pendant, and that’s how I’ll be doing it until the need arises.

when it comes to TOOLS all bets are off.

FYI. I created a wire cover for the Masso Pendant and posted in another topic.
