Homing in middle of y

Brand new to the cnc world. This is my first machine. Was playing around trying to get waste board flattened today and noticed when I homed it stopped in middle of y. First time I homed it landed at front left of machine. Is there a reason it does this? Something I did? Is this based on where the spindle is when I home?

Thank you for a response. I am trying to soak up like a sponge.

Can not yet Y axis to home been playing with volts and amps both down to .5 and it still wants to run
