I have trouble homing my machine y axis grinds to a halt before it
is homed and I usually have to home y axis on its own. Sometimes just backing up y axis and rehoming all together will work.

This happens often to me but I just unhome and move the y axis towards the home position and re-home. Seems to fix the issue.
