X and Y not homing after Y rail got blocked (resolved)

Hello,

On my Woodworker i was running an job were i have to make several the same pieces.
The first piece came out OK but when i put in the second piece, a piece of wood got trapped at the right Y rail. When i noticed i stopped the job an removed the piece of wood.
After that it is not possible to home the Y and X axis correctly.
The Y and X axis move in 2 steps 3 mm and states OK, wherever the axis position is.
Using the joystick i can move the axis free around.
I tried:
Cleaning the rails, no difference.
Jogging the axis around then homing, no difference.
Increasing the stall current, up to 4A no movement, so abort with E-stop
Downgrading software to 1.0.9, no difference.

Now i am stuck, can anyone help me out here?

Regards, Johan

I would try turning the machine off completely and pulling the gantry forward by hand until it hits the feet. If there are no mechanical issues you will feel a smooth consistent resistance.
Once it is hitting the feet turn the machine back on and see if you can home.

Thank you Chris, already tried this.
When i try to move them when the machine is off, i need some force to get it going, i have no reference.
Any idea how to pinpoint an mechanical issue?
The strange thing on this is that the Y axis was blocked, but Y and X axis will not home properly.
Could the temperature play on role here? (it is just above freezing)

With it off is pushing it all the way to the back just as hard as to the front? Or are there harder spots?
Since your machine is in the cold it might be the oil is getting too thick to allow it to use the stall home.
If you pull x y and z to the home position and then turn it on I think you will not have to home it. You should have the full range of travel.
There is some where on the forum that talks about temperature limits.

Here is recommended temp info.

I would keep a heater next to it as a temporary solution at least.

When i push the rail in both directions, i feels the same. First i have to come lose and then over the whole length the resistance is the same.
I will install an heater near the machine to see if this will help (also more comfort for me  )

Just keep the wood dust away from the heater.

Also the cold oil could be making this problem worse:

Let us know how it goes

The problem is resoled

First I cleaned the whole machine, this was good thing but it did not resole the problem.
I restored the default settings to the controller and the machine, this did the trick.
Now the machine is running better than before because of the cleanning.

Chris, thanks for your help.
