I have an opportunity to buy quite a bit of old cypress at a good price. How does it machine? I do really delicate work…mostly with 20 degree v-bits and 1/8" and 1/16" endmills, so it would need to be able to handle that kind of work.

Of course it will depend on the specific wood you have available (how it was dried, age, etc) but in general, Cyprus works beautifully with both hand and machine tools. It has a tight grain so should be good for small details without chipping. But again, it depends on the source.

Thanks. I think I’ll buy a couple board feet just for a test run and see how it turns out.
As Mhackney said Cypress is a great wood to work with. It is a GREAT outdoor project wood! if you can get it at a good price do it as most of the time is not the cheapest.
congrats!
