Can i set ip address of BB controller to always have same ip address

Usually done at the router (probably easier):
Setting up a static IP address
but can be set on the controller:

I set it up on the RPi, it wasn’t that hard. The other option at the router level is to assign a IP based on the mac address.

I had the same issue recently. I had to log into my Internet router (from the ISP) and create a “reserved address” for the Onefinity. Not terribly difficult once I got the ISP to tell me where they hid the password

My router reverts one of my computers to the original DHCP assignment. It’s Comcastic!
