Is this a Stall Homing Issue? (solved, wire issue)

I have a Journeyman X-50 purchased in 2023.

When trying to home the Z axis, the machine moves the spindle up, hits the top and reverses direction without stalling or grinding. At some point on the way down, it e-stops. After recovering from that, even the controller is wonky, moving the controller to command the axis up can result in it moving down…

It it a time of seasonal change in New England, so it seems to fit the bill for that symptom, but I thought I’d post because I’d rather not go messing around with settings right away if it’s something else.

Any thoughts on this problem?

100% a wire/connection issue in z.
