I do wonder why people use two 3/4 materials stacked. In a QCW for example its just sitting on 4 points, is a single piece of plywood likely to bow where two pieces stacked is not? I’m just truly curious why make it double thick since most structures like houses and such are single pieces of plywood.

this is because the Onefinity Z assembly and its milling motor mount strongly differ from what is usual on gantry-type cnc machines:

…at least on the Original Series Assembling Instructions (I don’t know for Elite) Onefinity suggests a rather thick wasteboard which makes you loose Z travel effectively. The reason lies in the fact that the Onefinity Z assembly and milling motor mount strongly differs from what is usual on gantry-type cnc machines:

Unfortunately the Onefinity milling motor mount, unlike on other machines (see also here, here and here), does not protrude downwards beyond the lower end of the Z assembly.

For these reasons, some people replaced the Onefinity Z assembly by a Universal Z assembly. How such a Z assembly/spindle slider could look like is shown below, see also RoverCNC Z assembly or Sorotec Z-Axis DIY-Kit “Alu-Line”
