I hooked up my laptop via ethernet cable. Screen comes on, asks to home click yes and it has a box = processing new file, simulating GCode. This has been doing this for over 10 minutes. Am I impatient or is something not correct.
No it’s not normal for homing to take 10 minutes to complete, does the machine move when you click home?
No. Nothing happens. I am up to date with 1.0.8 upgrade so everything should work.
Do you have a home network ( router )? It does not work if your connecting from the controller to the PC directly. If your do have it connected do you see and IP address on the monitor?
Yes, there is an IP address in top left corner. I am in my shop using wireless via router in basement.
How old is your router? Have you checked to see if it has any updates, (firmware update)? Is their any metal structures like air ducts, or structural beam? 2.4GHz routers can reach good distance but do have limits roughly about 65 ft(real world distance) , but can be less if obstacles are blocking.
I’m using a new WiFi that has directional beaming, it in the center of my house. You can add another access point to your network that would boost the signal closer to the 1F controller.
2 years old 35 feet from machine. No ducts or beams. You asked about IP & yes on upper. Left of screen. Thanks
The machine should home immediately once you click the button. I am confused why it would be ‘processing’ though - is your default gcode very large?
I have no idea how big default gcode is or where to find it. I am very limited on computer knowledge.
I checked my cables and all have a current through them. So I have determined that my monitor is shot. It was blinking on and off several times and finally shut down completely. I have ordered a larger touch screen and new cable. Thanks for everyone’s help and advice…
Same thing happened to me Keith. I like my new 15" much better anyway. I believe OF will credit you for the old monitor if you contact them.
