Awesome! What are most people doing with their Masso controller? I just got my machine recently so my Masso is brand new. Have people had any luck selling just the Masso controller?

The Upgrade kits are part of the IPP program, which requires you to ship back the parts you would trade out, including the Masso G3 Touch Controller, Power supply, and wires.

I cant remember reading it anywhere but out of curiosity what is the torque rating on the Redline/Onefinity branded steppers?

Pretty sure I‘ll get some hate mail for bringing this up but Ok, So let me get this straight. The upgrade, without new motors, for a Masso to Redline upgrade is 1075.00 dollars plus sending back a controller that Masso sells for approximately thousand dollars. So the price is actually over two thousand dollars! Is this Redline controller, (still in its infancy), worth double the price of a tried and tested Masso? Just wondering. Seems quite pricey. I’d love to see some performance comparisons regarding these two head-to-head. I am anxious to jump on the band wagon, but I am also cautious about my money. I need a compelling reason to switch, and I would like to be convinced with some concrete capabilities.

I’m with you, I haven’t seen enough details on what your really gain from a Masso to Redline upgrade for the price beyond what’s listed here to make me even consider the upgrade. Seems very equivalent for the most part other than it being the new thing.

I’m with IncrementalDesigns on this one. I have a MASSO running on a small metal mill and it’s incredibly flexible and capable. Also (and NO! I’m not diving into politics here, so reel your horses in!) when I bought my MASSO last year, I was responsible for the duties when it came into the USA (lesson learned, and not something MASSO advertises). So, if you’re in the USA you will pay more than the cost on the tin when you check out, depending on how the items are coded for US Customs, through the carrier (in my case DHL International), will be collecting those $$$. Complete sidebar, but check the codings and how Customs interprets them, I had my bill dropped $80 because they took a very liberal interpretation of those codes… still the extra $200+ was absolutely my responsibility, but absolutely a unwelcome suprise. Obviously if you don’t live in the USA, much of the above does not apply to you, though depending where you live, may still be relevant.

I have the onefinity rotary for Build Botics controller. What does it need to update it work with RedLine controller?

A 1.2Nm closed loop motor and a wire! That’s it!

I was ready to jump on this and do the upgrade. Then you inform everyone the Masso Controller has to be returned? Why don’t you just swap me controllers and I pay for the extra for the parts to get my Elite Woodworker up and running? My Masso controller is in perfect condition.

What if people just want to buy the new controller with the wires and homing parts? I can use my Masso for other things or even sell it with the upgrades I have added to it. how much for that?

Onefinity doesn’t seem to want to engage on this topic. I am wondering why?

Sometimes we sleep

The elite redline controller upgrade is part of the IPP and requires sending back your old components.

Maybe wait until business hours? (-

Though I was fortunate enough to get in on the fantastic deal that OF offered for the second wave of introductory Redline systems I’m also very familiar with the MASSO controller and I’m wondering what do folks feel the advantages of the RL is over the MASSO? The only feature that really sticks out to me is the animations, which are interesting and will help when first learning the machine. Those may become less valuable as your experience increases and you get your workflows nailed down. I looked at the Redline as a more cost effective offering to the MASSO controller which is incredibly capable and is fairly priced for those capabilities. So, out of curiosity, if you have an Elite w/MASSO what are the REDLINE features that would entice you to upgrade?

From what I have read is that the redline is the new inhouse OS which onefinity and redline have designed

Masso is controlled third party

If we all have a issue or want something changed it’s easier with the redline as they have full control of the OS to correct and add things

The upgrade would be to support in-house dev did their own OS which is beneficial for everyone

I am hope that deal on the redline package pops up for Boxing Day, if not no buying for me.

Maybe but that’s not guaranteed and right now there isn’t an external community of users that can help out when OF or Redline don’t get back to you. Remember this is still pretty much beta so while there’s info on assembly scattered over several documents, forum posts and web pages, there’s no user manual. Nor is there any apparent way to reach Redline with questions (I couldn’t find a link for Support on their website). They do have someone apparently official posting here on occasion but they’re on their own schedule and not responsive to PMs. This is still a product and relationship that is in its early stages so rose colored glasses should be removed. I’d expect things to be more coherent and solid over the next few months or year. Right now you just will have to be patient and let things settle out.

Masso on the other hand has an enormous external user community that can be tapped with questions or provide help for Masso-specific issues. While they’re Aussie based their user community is global. They don’t have the right relationship that Redline has with OF but potentially changes and requests may be things they see across their larger user base and may drive updates. Longer term they may not be the choice you might make when getting into the OF ecosystem but if you’ve got a Masso, I’m not sure there’s anything you’ll get with the Redline that is compelling yet. Waiting for future developments may help prevent any issues you might see from an early switch (not sure I’d call the Masso to Redline an upgrade yet, more of a different tool doing the same thing).

That is not what I asked. Will you ever just sell a new redline controller? and how much would it be? Right now, it looks as if it is over two thousand dollars US to do an upgrade, if you don’t get the new motors, 2800.00 if you get the new motors. You were selling a whole machine just a while ago for what 37 hundred and you did not require folks to send back their controller because they did not have one. So, what gives? Why the exorbitant price? What does it do that my Masso does not? Don’t get me wrong, I am all for a dedicated to Onefinity controller, but at twice or more of the price of the Masso? I need to know why it is worth that much more, and there is very little info in that regard. I know I am a PITA but as a customer that has spent over 11,000 dollars with you folks, I think that rates an answer Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Fab nailed it. With Redline being purpose-built for the Onefinity, updates and changes can roll out almost immediately. That’s a huge advantage for anyone invested in the ever-growing Onefinity ecosystem. Maybe it’s like a “full eight”—we all know the kind of brainpower it takes behind the scenes to make that happen.
I’m not here to spark a debate between Redline and Masso. The point is simple: with Redline, you’re buying a controller designed specifically for Onefinity, supported and updated around the clock with features tailored to this machine. Masso is a solid, proven controller—but it’s a generic solution. It runs machines well, just not with the same Onefinity-specific focus or specialized features.
This isn’t about picking sides. It’s about looking at your own goals and deciding what fits your needs, your workflow, and the growth of both you and your machine
