Too true, but I wouldn’t even try that with a spindle.
Shouldn’t be a problem with the right bit.
I had 2 of the ER11 routers from OpenBuilds (looks just like this one) and neither would accurately seat the bits. There was considerable wobble, especially on surfacing bits. I returned the first one and they swapped it for another. Same problem. When I contacted them about the problem they admitted that the routers do have that problem and they refunded my money without me even asking.
Edit: Well, I thought I was replying to a post above. This is in reference to the Carbide 3D ER11 router post.
Hey Bill,
usually ER collets hold the bits much more reliably than hand trim router collets. Have you considered that people who are not used to ER collets often mount them wrong?
I run my woodworker with a Avid Power router, coast on Amazon last week was $70. I have brushes for them and when it stop running I simply replace a $5 set of brushes and it start right back up.
Hey David, would love to update you on polyback birch or any other projects I’ve been working on but the truth is a triple coronary bypass and a bout of COVID and kept me out of the shop for months now. Can’t wait to get back at it now that I’m better.
time for our spindle
Hi, Charles. Wow, you’ve been through quite a lot! I’m glad to hear that you’re on the mend now. For various reasons, my productivity in my shop has been much lower in recent months as well, but I’m hoping to be able to ramp it up again in the near future.
Whenever you do get bak to it, I’d still love see what you create and hear about your experience in the process.
