Need help getting Huanyang VFD to run spindle CCW

Hi,

I’m kinda at my wits end trying to get my spindle to run CCW and I’m hoping I can pay/recruit someone who knows what they’re doing to help.

I recently ordered the new ATC, and I realized I need to have my spindle run CCW for that to work… However, when I push the CCW button, it just results in CW motion the same as the CW button.

It’s a 110v, Huanyang HY Series VFD for a 2.2kw spindle. Not sure if it’s a VFD setting or wiring, everything looks ok to me…

Clockwise, everything works as expected… Software control over turning on and spindle RPM, no issues, other than it won’t run CCW.

In looking through the forum, I’ve seen pictures of diagrams that match my wiring. As well as pictures of wiring that doesn’t match. Also, some other people are mentioning a white wire that needs to be connected, but the place they say to connect it already has another wire in it’s spot and they don’t mention where it connects to on the VFD. Even tried asking Chatgpt and Gemini and not surprising they haven’t been much help.

Lol I’m so confused…

Anyone interested in getting paid to spend 30 minutes (probably less) on a phone call to walk me through making sure the right wires are connected to the right places and my VFD PD settings match yours?

I should have it 98% right… Guessing something to do with that extra white wire someone mentioned?

I’m just confused and the more I read the more my eyes are glossing over. Being dyslexic and totally new to this isn’t helping. Lol

I’m sure I could rewire the whole thing in minutes if I knew exactly what needs to connect to what without making sense of diagrams and stuff. … So, I don’t expect it’d tale long on the phone to get this figured out.

No rush, but I’d love to get this figured out before the ATC arrives next month (hopefully! ) …

My wiring matches this diagram (just verified continuity) … So maybe it’s a VFD setting? Might just be a matter of matching your settings? No idea. Help!

Thanks!

The white wire goes to pin 7 on the spindle interface section on the Masso Controller. If your VFD cable already has all wires connected to the aircraft plug (Aircraft Plug, pin 6 connected to REV on the VFD), it should be as simple as connecting the white wire to the Masso.

You also need to scrub your VFD settings and ensure CCW is configured accordingly.

The common VFD settings which MAY need to be modified for Huanyan VFD are:

PD023, PD045

So in short, you need to make sure the Masso, the wiring and the VFD wiring and programming all sync-up for CCW operation.

Hope this helps.
