New 4/5 axis attachment to try out

I just got this, and finished the mounting configuration. Now I just have to figure out what to do with my controller to add the other 2 axis. The AcornSix is far more than I care to put into this experimental project, so I am thinking of going with CNCdrive AXBB-E controller. I can get the controller + software for a little more than I’d have to pay for the Acorn CNC12 program alone. If I end up having any legitimate application for the 5 axis setup, then I may consider upgrading to the AcornSix. But for now, this is just for learning/playing.

Ambitious work there. I fear you may be yelling into the void as this will shortly be edited or deleted by the staff for breaking the now cardinal sin of mentioning any other company at all.

Thanks! Not sure exactly what I’ll do with it just yet, mostly got it to play around with & learn some new tricks.

@PezWoodworks Amazon

this is great! do you have a link to this device ? Also please share how you’ll set that up ! :))

Hey @Abel, here’s the link:

Currently my machine is controlled by a UC100 controller feeding a Gecko G540 4 axis driver. The UC100 is a 6-axis capable DB25 device that plugs directly into the G540’s DB25 port. I have a DB25 to DB25 breakout board arriving this week that should give me access to the additional I/O ports I need to hook up the additional drives.

I had first seen these devices on Temu, they were just over $300. They looked decent, but both rotary axis were belt drive. This one is a 50:1 harmonic reducer, and I can barely back-drive either axis. The belt driven one would have spun without much resistance. Note that when you look at that link, they also have that version.
