Original Z axis maximum speed

Happy New Year everyone. Is it possible to increase the maximum feed rate on the Z-16 beyond the defaulted 118 i.p.m. Would like to not change X and Y speed, just the Z axis.

You can increase the max speed however on the Z axis the movements are generally very small and therefore the acceleration and jerk can play a larger role in the actual speed of travel. Each movement involves an acceleration time and a deceleration time which on a short movement will never reach the 118 ipm.

Also things like plunge rate in the CAM software can limit how fast the Z axis will move.

Okay, thanks. That all makes sense to me now. Can you recommend what settings to change that will increase the velocity of the Z axis? I have a 65mm air cooled spindle mounted on the original z slider.

There are some threads on here and videos on Youtube that cover it pretty well.

Thanks. I will try the setting changes in the video.

Does anyone know if the jerk setting can be set at different amounts for each axis while still producing proper tool path movements and accuracy? Example: Z axis jerk setting as say 15000 while X and Y axis remain at 1000 default.
