Post up them projects

I live in Louisville, Ky, so lots of Bourbon stuff going on here.
These are some Bourbon Barrell heads that I do engravings on for various people.
Also a flight Tray for a Brewery. I think I made about 24 of those.

excuse my ignorance but how do you post projects and pictures??

You can simply drag & drop images from your computer into the comment reply box and they’ll be uploaded and show up in your comment.

ok thank you so much

go to ‘REPLY’ at bottom, drag file of picture from computer (never could figure out how to get it off my phone so i loaded on computer file), and sit back and wait for it to load. Your picture when fully loaded will show up in right read screen and say 100%
now push REPLY (or whatever the final choice is) Took me a while to figure it out but I got it
you’ve just posted your first pictures
As I remember, your first time they limit you to 3 pictures
If you look back on it and want to change something just click on the little pencil at the bottom (That’s what I just did now to add this)

Wow that looks amazing. I just made my first bowl and I get the bowl bit marks on the bottom. How do you set yours up to fix that? Or any suggestions? I have a X50JM.
Thank you

Thanks for the compliment, first of all I have my spindle trammed in to very near perfect so I don’t get lines from the tool, I used a 1/2" 2 flute up cut endmill to machine the pockets to final depth leaving 3/8" on all sides to remove with the bowl bit. I use the bowl bit for the profile cut so it just follows the profile and going down in the Z about .200 per pass. My bowl bit is 3/4" dia with a small part in the center that is flat so it is not a complete radius. I literally did not have to sand anything, only a little scotchbrite and it is ready for finish.
Good luck on your projects.

My buddy got in a bad bike accident… i saw him in a condition i wouldn’t wish on my enemies. But he got out of it without any broken bones… he’s also a superman fan

Made this for him to help with left brain/ right brain connection following his tbi and invited him to paint it instead of the coloring books for 8 year olds his wife gave him

A topographic 3D relief of Snowdon (A mountain in Wales).

Software Used:

  • Modelling: Blender3D and GIS Addon: BlenderGIS Addon - Blender
  • Toolpaths: VCarve
Machining: Amana 1/32 Tapered Ball Nose. 170 IPM, 24k (probably way too much), 10% stepover
    Material: American Walnut
    Dimensions: 230mm x 165mm x 30 mm

Even Better If:

  • I wanted to show the paths to get up Snowdon. To do this I modelled the paths as 0.5mm diameter tubes. Whilst they technically worked, they look too much like a worm casts

What Worked Well:

  • The detail on the profile worked well with grain of the walnut (fluke)
  • Lakes and various puddles were modelled by outlining the regions and flattening the surface and then pulling the surface down 1mm

First 2-sided, 3D work totally of my design. It’s a tulip poplar leaf ring dish. It’s 1/4 thick, slightly convex; the corners are 3/4 high at their peaks. Veins are v-carved into the surface following the concave surface. Have some tooling updates to make to improve precision if I plan to make a bunch of them, but not a bad first go.

Here is a fun project I completed.
The file is on etsy, finished size is 12 X 12 X 2.
Used a 1/4 ballnose for roughing about 2 hrs.
Used a 1/8 tapered ballnose for finish psss about 5 hrs.
Cleanup and painting about 8 hrs.
