Hey Chris,
chrismilleruk:
what’s the best firmware now, I’m on 1.0.9. I saw a few forums posts but tbh it sounds like they gotin a pickle with the numbers so I’m asking the community.
1.0.9 is still used by many, one reason to go to 1.3.0 alpha 2 would be if you want the EM60 (https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1-7zW33DPk80t8vYBqwfPjI9U4SrDRyA8&export=download )) to appear in the VFD listing on the TOOL page.
1.0.9 has no selection for the beefy Z-20 assembly but you can enter the values manually and it will work fine with the Z-20.

the two dual rails were slightly twisted on unpacking. Not much, but enough that they didn’t sit flat with ~2mm play. I’m guessing this is related to the tension in the ball screw so I used the 2x top and 2x bottom bolts to reset it. I’m guessing that’s fine.

The dual-rails aren’t quite moving in sync. I thought they were earlier so maybe I knocked something. (See video)
Y1 seems to go in the wrong direction and the correct itself.
I checked the reverse
setting for M1/2.
Any suggestions welcome.
You have four wires that go to a stepper motor , that go to two coils (coil arrays in fact). If one of the wires is failing, it can have the effect that the motor runs into wrong direction. You have a cable or connector issue.
Note: Any time the axis moves in the opposite direction than what you direct it to, it’s 100% of the time a bad wire/connection. Sometimes, something as simple as disconnecting and reconnecting the wires connection solves it. Follow below for more help and examples.
Sometimes they have simply a bad connection due to wear or corrosion of the tin plating. In this case, a little amount of KONTAKT 60 and then KONTAKT 61 can help.
