Redline Controller HMI Wifi and Low signal (FAQ)

Networking (Wi-Fi & Ethernet)

The Redline Controller can connect to your network using either a wired Ethernet connection or Wi-Fi.

A wired Ethernet connection (using the LAN port on the back of the controller) is always the most stable and recommended option.
However, the internal Wi-Fi module allows convenient wireless access when running a network cable isn’t practical.

Because the built-in Wi-Fi chip uses a small internal antenna, best performance is achieved when the controller is located in the same room (generally within 10ft and clear line of site) as your wireless router.
For users who need extended range or stronger signal, Redline has enabled native support for specific external USB Wi-Fi adapters that will greatly boost the signal.

Supported External Wi-Fi Adapters

There are currently two external adapters that work right out of the box — these are the only officially supported models at this time:

  1. Best (Recommended): TP-Link AC600 USB Wi-Fi Adapter
  2. Good: TP-Link Nano AC600 USB Wi-Fi Adapter

How to Enable an External Wi-Fi Adapter

  1. Power off the controller.
  2. Plug in the external USB Wi-Fi adapter.

:warning: The adapter must be plugged in before powering on the controller.

  1. Power on the controller.
  2. Once fully booted, tap the ☰ (hamburger menu) in the top-right corner.
  3. Select “Config.”
  4. Under the Config menu, open the “Network” tab.
  5. You’ll see both options listed — Internal (default) and External.
  • Check the box next to External to enable the USB Wi-Fi adapter.
  1. Scroll to the bottom and tap “Scan.”
  2. Select your preferred Wi-Fi network and tap “Connect.”
  3. Wait patiently — there is currently no progress indicator while connecting.
  4. Once connected, you’ll see “Success” at the top with your assigned IP address.
  • If it doesn’t connect, tap “Test” to retry.
  • In rare cases where it still doesn’t appear connected, proceed to step 12.
  1. Reboot the system (use full “Reboot,” not “Restart”) to make the change permanent.
  2. Success! The external Wi-Fi adapter is now enabled and will remain the default connection method going forward.
