Redline controller, Rotary mounting issues

I appologize in advance if this has been covered someplace. I have searched everywhere using a variety of search criteria, without any luck.

So I have the new Redline controller, foreman elite, I ordered the rotary, and the ATC. The Rotary just arrived a few days ago. It comes with QCW mounting brackets, and some risers for the roatary when used on the foreman to provide for larger material when using the foreman. However, in following the guidance to have a waste board that is 2.5-3” when I first received the machine and set it up, Well there are some issues with using said hardware. The one I happened to choose has the MDF on the top exstending beyond the QCW front bar. preventing me from mounting said brackets. I created the dovetail wasteboard that Morgan made and sells designs for. It sticks out far enough beyond the QCW front assemly that the bracket simply wont fit.

Ok, then I assume I can use the mount directly to the waste board, I have it mounted, but I have a few issues.

  1. If I try and home the spindle, even with only the collet installed it would hit the motor and material mount for the rotary. So I need to make sure of clearances when homing, though if not paying attention that could really mess sopmethings up.

  2. Is there some place that has instructions for the redline install of the rotary? I had to view the other instructions and stop when it says to perform vaious wiring operations. The harness is pretty easy, only one place to plug it in.

All in all that seems pretty straight forward so far. But I just dont get how I’m supposed to home with out moving everything around the rotary first. Also, am I just not finding the documentation for the redline and rotary install, on the support page, they show masso, and BB. I want to be sure I’m clear, the controller and general table setup are all there, but nothing on the rotary with the new controller.

Thank you.

Hi Don,
This isn’t a redline specific issue, just a general machine clearnace issue. The installation of the rotary on the machine is identical for all machine types. Just the plug is different (and much simpler on the redline).

If you have a spindle, only use 3/4 material for your spoilboard. The doubling up is for if you use a makita router (as it’s much shorter and won’t reach).

That should solve your clearance issues.

Hope that helps!

You’re right, I didnt mean to imply it was a redline issue in particular, just thats my setup, if it mattered. Which…I guess it doesn’t. Ok, I was not aware that the spoilboard build up was for a handheld router option, but that makes sense.

I’ll go back to the drawing board a little bit here and setup the spoilboard in slat configuration for normal operation, Rotaryt, ATC, etc. I’ll have another option to intsall the dovetail board to seat in place when I want to use it. I appreciate the clarification on that one.

All great points! We’re listening to feedback and will include that in the manuals! Rotary manual for Redline is being worked on. We value your feedback!
