Riser blocks too thin

As I am finally putting together my gen 2 journeyman, I notice that even with those thin riser blocks the center of the Y rails is still dragging the table. this doesn’t seem to be normal. Why are they so close to the table. Also, I cannot seem to find a video on setting up the machine on anything but a QCW? Is there one? I had assumed (yes, I know the joke) that it would be just like a gen one on a homemade table, but it appears I was wrong. Some advice needed, I think.

ok I did what every red blooded American boy refuses to do(at first)I looked in the manual!

low and behold they show how to mount the gen 2 onto a table and yes, it is like the gen 1’s but I still think those thin “risers” are way too thin. It looks like I will have to make some. I don’t think a 1/4 inch would be too thick and it will definitely keep the gantry’s from scraping the table.

I’m having a hard time picturing what is going on for you. I have a journeyman that was mounted directly to a table, then on a QCW, and never had anything close to your issue. If you post a picture it might be helpful.

Hi Robert,
If they are rubbing, that may mean your table top is not absolutly flat.
You could cut some scrap and put it under each foot or get our gen 1 risers that will help lift it higher to your liking!

the very corner on the front of my table was a little off and that is what cause the dip so that the gantry scraped. it has been fixed.

I had the same issue on the right side;maybe 1/16” clearance and almost 1/8” on left side. I used 3/8” baltic birch to raise it up and works fine. Seems like shims should be 1/4” for homemade tables to avoid any high spots.
