Router until spindle ships for $30!

Today is 14 weeks from my order, still no word from 1F. I do know by now that I will continue to wait for the spindle even after the machine arrives. So I need a router to do the job in the interim, which was exactly why I went straight to a spindle with my first machine. But I digress.

Since I wasn’t looking to buy a router, and hopefully won’t need it all that long, I am being cheap.

Harbor Freight sprin black friday sale, ends today. 30 bucks. I could have coughed up the extra 10 for the 2 year replacement plan but fingers crossed this holds up til the Redline is here.

It measured 64.45mm and the overall width is under 80mm so it should work in the standard shim. I’ll report back on performance once I can actually test it on a machine.

I too prepared for this contingency. I got the carbide one at a very good price due to them discontinuing them. seems that they too are going to make a spindle.

That is concerning to me. Im looking at buying the Elite machine with a spindle but not sure I like the lead time on the spindle. Have they not reached out to you at all with a ship date?

I currently have a Shapeoko 3xxl with a spindle so I would not be in a super big hurry. I mean I can still cut unless it goes before the new one arrives. I just would not want to wait 6 months for it all to get here. At what point do they start your warranty? I mean if you cant use the machine until the spindle arrives do they take that into consideration?

I used the Bauer in mine until I got the spindle and was very impressed with it. It was quieter and the dial would stay put compared to the makita.

I was wondering about the dial. I saw somebody (maybe you) mention there are some 3d printable designs out there for some of them to keep the dials in place.

Hopefully I don’t need it long enough to matter. For $30 I won’t be mad if it goes on a shelf with 2 hours on it…

If the dial does vibrate, I would just slap a piece of duct tape on it. That’s what I did on my first machine with the makita, but had no issues with the Bauer

Oh, it’ll hold still…

Just got my Red Line. Started to play with it this week end. ME LIKEEE so far.

mrkrag I think I would offset the shim like you did for me on the DeWalt. This would give you more room for a dust boot to move up/down with out hitting the Z slider. I am working on a plywood temp boot for the Red Line. While I wait for the ATC dust boot. As this is all new to me I am learning how to use Carveco also.
