Some incorporate a vertical clamping surface with their tables. What do they use it for?

Im designing a table for my Foreman, that i have yet to recieve. I’ve seen people incorporate a vertical area with their table for clamping items vertically. As i don’t want to miss out on anything cool to be made with this vertical feature, i think id like to add this to my table design.

Ive seen a guy install a rotary tool as a 4th axis, which i would love to do, but whatelse do people make with this vertical table feature?

I thought i would just build some drawers underneath the table top, but this vertical feature would be in the way.

Thanks.

Hey Charles,

you use the vertical clamping system to mill joints on vertical pieces, e.g. dovetail joints on drawers

Well look at that. Wow. Ok. I love your swivel stand / table. I am short on space in my garage as I will only have a half of a 1.5 car garage so that might be something I’d like to possibly model for myself.

I am designing something super heavy and super rigid right now as i’m very partial to wobbly / unsteady tables / work benches. Maybe I can do something that swivels too.

Hey Charles,

the forum is full of inspiration

I just noticed that 1F makes the QCW table with wheels and that it folds up so you can stow the machine away. I love the idea of that.
