Spindle stops rotating mid carve. Redline 2.2kw

I haven’t had this CNC for long, just a few days, but I have am now having the problem of the spindle stopping rotating in the middle of carves and receiving error code 12. The rest of the machine keeps running.

I have done a few projects, such as flattening my spoil board, creating a grid, creating dog holes, did a simple test sign, and a 3D carve. Now, this problem is popping up. If I shut everything off and reset it will run again, but after a while it stops.This is with two different gcodes.

To me it acts like a short, but all of the wires are securely attached and there are no frayed wires or any visible issues. Also, I wouldn’t think it would work by simply shutting everything off and back on. I can clear the code by shutting the VFD off and back on, but when I turn the spindle on it give the same code, so I have to shut everything down.

Anyone have any idea of how to fix this? I can’t stay hovering over my machine just waiting for it to shut off, not to mention the issue of having to reset everything up or possibly losing entire carves because of this issue.

I would contact Redline, but if you go to redlines website it give a list of codes in the back of the manual for the VFD.

Thanks. That wasn’t the problem. The problem was a faulty spindle cable.

Shane, will you share how you troubleshot your problem to a faulty cable? Might come in handy someday!

That happened to me two weeks ago. Contacted OF support/Redline support and they replaced the cable. There was a recall on the original cables back in 2024. Guess mine was one of them.
They sent me a new one within a week.
