Surfacing Bit Recommendations?

Hey guys I have been using this bit to surface my waste board and projects. Just wondering of any other bits out there they you like and recommend? - Peter

This is what I have been using and I won’t ever use anything else. It stands up to abuse and stays true. The replaceable heads make it so much cheaper to run overtime.

Are you using a spindle with an ER20 collet? I’m using a CMT cutter but it has a 12mm shank which is worthless to someone with a router.

Yeah I mainly use the Makita router

I have the RC-2265 and I love it. Super pricey, but the replaceable knives make it a good long-term investment. If could, I’d get the 1/2" shank though - 1/4" makes me pucker every time I turn on the router

Carbide 3D has one that’s a bit cheaper but still with replaceable knives. The link snapshot says it’s $45 but that’s for the replaceable blades. The cutter is $90.

I use the Fraiser version of the same, with the Makita router:

i have a onefinity elite foreman. Just got it together. Trying to surface spoil board. I have a 3/4 inch spoilboard and a makita router. I set the cnc up with the router and the router mount as low as they would go. The whiteside 6210 1 inch bit will not reach my spoilboard unless barely in the router. I dont think itw in the router far enough to be safe. Any help would be appreciated .

Thanks

Hey Roadracer1,

Thank you

Here’s mine “SpeTool Carbide Insert Surfacing Router Bit”
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C6XMCXD3
Very satisfied and triple less then Amana or Whiteside.
Unless you surface your spoilboard every day, I don’t see spending $150 for a bit

I use this one as well, works very good

Spetool is the same one I’m using. Not just for surfacing my MDF spoilboard but just flattened both faces of a 10" diameter oak cookie with no problems.

I am taking your advice on this one.

RIP Precision Tools Slab Slayer.

From when I had a little bit more space …

If I had to buy one nowadays, I would seriously consider this one

their bits are just amazing!

I use rabbetting bottom cleaning bits, low cost, last a very long time, and do a fine job. This set of 3 sells for $30 cdn. The fascination with paying more for router/mill bits escapes me.

I just bought some of the larger one pictured (1-1/2") from Grizzly.com for less than 3 bucks apiece!

That’s a great deal!
