Hey all, new guy here to these forums. So long story short, (sorry, still a long story) I have an Elite gen 2 Journeyman machine with a Redline HMI. Have had it a few months now and have been learning the machine and software (which I switched to VCarve) and have made some successful cuts so far. The problem that I have is that when I cut the test file included with the machine, the one that says ELITE, the file cuts 2 inches too big in all directions compared to the test cut on the included MDF board that came with my machine. I expected it to cut at the same size and I wound up hitting my aluminum material hold down due to the unexpected cut size difference. Thankfully I’m using a quality bit and it wasn’t damaged but the hold down now has a new shape. I made sure I loaded the Journeyman default settings and I didn’t mess with the file at all. Anyone have any idea why it’s cutting 2 inches too large? I come from a Shapeoko background and it was, dare I say, almost idiot proofed but not sure what to look for in this case. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Sounds like your machine is configured for a different machine. Reset your configuration in the settings to your machine (Gen 1 and Gen 2 are different!)
That’s all. Do you have a gen 1 or gen 2?
That is where I set it to Gen 2 which is what I have. I decided to try and unplug the HMI for half an hour, plugged it back in, powered it up, reset the machine again to ensure it was set correctly and tried the test file once more. This time it worked as expected. Taking power from the HMI for a bit seemed to fix it. Many thanks for the replies!
