Tool Change Guidance

I am running my first project with a tool change planned in the gcode. Up until now I was running on the free version of Fusion so before I would just have a single program for each tool, bring the spindle back close to home, change the bit and re-probe the Z height and run the next one.

I don’t have the Tool Setter yet but I assume that will solve the issue which is when the program gets to the M6 line it comes back to home for the tool change which is nice. Once I swap the tool and hit go again it automatically goes to probe the Z on it’s own but in this case it’s outside of the material I am cutting so I can really set the Z height there. I had to pause/cancel the program, re-probe the Z height manually then manually force the program to start on a specific line after the tool change.

Is there a better way without the Tool Setter? Does the Tool Setter get rid of this issue?

You’ll need at least the tool setter to be able to do tool changes. Without it, you’ll need each tool to be it’s own file.
