I have a Gen 1 Elite that I have ‘upgraded’ with the redline spindle and controller. I am running the latest Beta firmware. I attempted to run a two tool job this morning. The path for the first tool ran fine, no issues. I changed to tool 2 and it started with no issues. About 3 minutes into the second toolpath, it appears that something shifted (not physically, but within the controller) and it started cutting offset from where it was supposed to and then stalled and kept ‘pecking’ at the same spot. See video and photo. What would be causing this? First toolpath was with a .25 endmill. Second toolpath was with a .25 bullnose bit. As you should be able to see from the photo and video, the toolpath was cutting along the X axis and made it about 1" on the Y axis before shifting/stalling.
Also, all motors are showing ‘green’. With the ‘pecking’ it appears that the job was still going but the machine was not moving on the X axis like it was supposed to.
Turned out, the X lead screw collar set screw was loose (again). Is anyone using any kind of light thread lock on the collar set screws?
I belive purple or 222 is pretty light. Could also try some pipe dope.
