Touch Probe Connector

Does anyone know where I can order a new connector for the wires to connect to the back of the controller? It seems that my wires pulled out from the connector on the back of the controller.

Thank you!
Bryce

I am looking for the little black piece that connects the wires to the main controller.

Do these connectors work with the current Masso controller for Touch Probe and Tool Setter?
What crimping tool is needed.
Is it best to tin the ends of the wire with solder.

Hey Garry,

:warning: Never tin a wire end that you plan to use in a screw or clamping terminal, or into a wire ferrule! Solder deforms under pressure and the connection will not be secure!

Generally a crimped connection is superior to a soldered connection, not only because solder has a much lower melting temperature than the wire material which is not ideal in cases of shorts, but primarily because when solder is applied with heat, it tends to creep in varying and unpredictable amounts along the individual strands of the wire and the area of the individual strand affected by the solder loses its flexibility. When such cables are subjected to movement, individual strands break. A crimped connection ensures that the compressed part of the wire begins and ends at a defined point and does not differ between the individual strands. Also when correctly crimped you get a cold-welded connection, which is stronger than any soldered connection and protects the copper strands by eliminating any air between them, so good against corrosion.

Regarding wire ends, you need wire ferrules with the color matching exactly the wire cross-section area. And you need a crimp pliers for wire ferrules for the correct wire cross-section area range. Most crimping pliers for wire ferrules support wire cross-section areas from 0.25 mm² to 6.0 mm². If you have thicker or thinner wires, you need a pliers with extended range 0.08 mm² – 10 mm² like this one or this one that I own and can recommend. The latter both are self-adjusting.

See here a → table for finding the correct color code wire ferrule matching your wire cross-section area.
