Hi,
Is it possible to turn off automatic probing for Z when the carve is started? I prefer to do it manuall using the Probe Z function.
Thanks
Steve

Not sure of your description of “auto probe” for Z. I home all axis at the start. Make sure I have a repeatable surface for Z. After 1 program has run, I change the bit, probe Z, load next program, and carve. Z will always need re-probed after a bit change, and the BB controller works best with a separate tool path for each bit. Never had any good or consistent results trying to have multiple tool changes within 1 program on the BB controller. I use V-Carve Pro. My experience and other forum users would confirm, 1 tool, 1 program, golden, but not ideal. When I run a separate program for each tool, it typically doesn’t ask me to re-probe. That just has to be a given procedure. It works, just not as user friendly, as say, the Elite and Masso setup. You get what you pay for in terms of features.
To clarify. Once the machine is homed, short of a power interruption, Z is the only axis that needs homing with each bit change.
I am running 1.0.9 on the BB controller. When I start a job, I can either choose to probe XYZ, probe Z or just set X0, Y0 and Z0 manually.
On the newer version of the firmware, when a job is started you are prompted to place the touchplate to probe Z. I don’t want this. This is what I am trying to disable.
Thanks
Steve
No, the firmware version doesn’t add that, your gcode file does. Look at the gcode file and see if it starts with a m6 command. If it does, remove it as it’s calling for z probing.
Ok, will check. Thanks.
