I ask this because the x’s and ovals are just one design I am trying
I don’t use the same software, so take this with a grain of salt.
I’ve had a very similar issue where my origin plane (and direction) didn’t get flipped for side 2. So for side 1 you have the Z0 plane at the top of the material, for side 2 it should still be at the top of the material, right? My problem was that my Z0 stayed at the top of side 1 when I did the flip. Now it’s the bottom!
Ah, but the toolpaths are in the file you sent, they’re on the Top side of the drawing (your file came in as the bottom side). Here is a screenshot of them (3rd picture). Except for Profile 3, all have a depth of .075. Profile 3 is your outer cut of the handle.
Your file as you sent it only cuts on the Top side of the drawing. When I switched it to the Bottom side, there were no toolpaths to cut.
As drawn, it cuts fine on the one side. Your complaint was that it was cutting all the way through on the opposite side (in the 3D view). But I don’t understand how you were getting it to show cutting on the other side when you didn’t have any toolpaths on that side. When I copied the drawing to the other side (1 layer at a time), and created toolpaths, then both sides cut fine.
Can you enlighten us on how you did that? Then maybe one of us can figure out why it isn’t showing right for you.

you are absolutely right but I also do not know how that is either. here it the file as i saw it
file sent to vetrics for solution.crv (16.1 MB)
It’s cutting through because on the bottom side, you have two toolpaths (V-Carve 6 & 7) that both have a start depth of .75 (see picture) so you’re telling the program to lower the bit all the way through the wood, then start the cut. If you make the start depth 0.00, then it would cut fine. I hope this helps.
Note, these 2 toolpaths were not in the file that you sent me to look at.

i knew it was some sort of mistake on my part thank you.
It makes me smack my forehead at times, but I learn faster through my mistakes than any other way!
