XYZ probe incorrect

Hey
I’m having issues with my probe plate not measuring accurately recently.
BTW I’m only using it for thickness
Can anyone walk me through the troubleshooting for this?
I can run jobs by manually using the a piece of paper and zero out on that, so its not a job setup error in the software I’m using.
Could it be the post processor? (I’m using ATC not the old one) but I’m not using the Rapid Change
Thanks

Ken, I’m assuming you are using the regular 1F touch plate. I found early on that the actual thickness of the plate differed from what the machine had been factory programmed. I would start by using a good calipers to measure the actual thickness of your plate, and compare that to what’s in the machine configuration in the flyout menu.

I can do that but I used the touchplate since I got the machine with no issues until I got the rotary and updated the post processors

This is a head scratcher
I homed the machine
Manually measured table surface Z distance with a piece of paper set it as zero
Used the probe to measure a the thickness of a piece of wood
Then I measured the distance the bit was from the table vs the control panel not even close
See pictures

I noticed 2 things. The difference is .383"…would your touch plate happen to be 3/8" thick?

And your control shows your T2 as a 1/16" endmill, the tool in the spindle is something different.

Yeah I never figured out that tool configuration thing. They never matched up between the Masso and Vcarve toolbase.
I don’t think the thickness of the plate is the problem. The physical measurement from the table to the bottom of the bit is much larger than registered on the screen. Approx. .6" Remember I manually set Z zero.

I see. I think I just misread your post. Re-read and now I’m just terribly confused by the process you describe. I have nothing to offer, sorry bro.

When you got the rotary and this started was it also when you updated your Masso to 5.10 by chance? I am wondering if that possibly wiped your configuration for your touch prober thickness you have set in your F1

I think it might be something in the Masso. Maybe a setting that needs to be updated. Like I said, I’ve had no issues until I updated the post processors
But thanks for your help. I’ll either figure it out or go old school for now

I still have 5.07 I haven’t updated the Masso.

Id suggest starting a job and when you go into the probing menu check your Z offset and make sure it matches what you measure the thickness of your block to be. If its wrong update it then click save settings.

These are current settings
Should they all be 0

I wonder if they might be the settings from the rotary I did follow the manual to revert to 3 axis however

They should not be 0. That Is your problem right now you have the z set to 1.37 inches thick. Take some calipers and measure the thickness of your probe plate in inches and change your Z offset number. There is no way your probe is over an inch thick

This picture is the rotary prob settings. When you go back to 3 access you need to change back to the three axis probe settings as well. Unfortunately, MASSO doesn’t have an easy way to switch back-and-forth but our upcoming Redline controller will. It’ll be much much smoother to switch back-and-forth.

Ok then
Will do
Thanks for your help everyone

upcoming Redline controller?
