Y gantry moves when attempting to only jog the X gantry

Machine: Onefinity Elite with MASSO

Problem: After homing, when attempting to jog the X over to my work piece, the left Y motor will move and cause a motor error (the right side does not move). I can re-home with no issues and when I swap the Y and B cables to troubleshoot the problem does move over ot the B motor (right side). The problem occurs even at low motor speed and even when doing incremental jogs as well as continuous.

Symptoms:

  • Machine homes correctly

  • Y jogging works correctly

  • During X jogging, Left Y gantry side physically moves independently and causes a motor error

  • MASSO Y DRO does not change during the fault

  • Swapping the Y and B motor cables causes the problem to move to the opposite gantry side

Troubleshooting already performed:

  • Reseated all cables

  • Cleaned controller

  • Verified homing operation

  • Swapped Y/B motor cables to isolate issue

Based on the issue switching to the B motor after I do a cable swap at the masso, I am assuming I have a bad cable. After inspecting the Y cable there does not appear to be any pin issues nor do I see any crimping along the wires. Before I purchase an entire set of replacement cables just to swap out this Y cable (i do not see option to buy single cable) does anyone have any other suggestions I try before I hit “purchase”? I am really enjoying this hobby and hate the downtime.

If they are moving at the same time when only commanding one to move, you’ll want to contact Masso directly as their may be a hardware failure in the Masso controller.
