Best way to stop and restart a job

I have a Onefinity Elite. Only had it for a couple of weeks or so. I was wondering what is the appropriate way to stop a job. I know some of the 3d carves can take hours. Or in the case you see the carve is not going as planned. And in the case you want to restart at the point you stopped how do you go about doing that.
