Stopping mid carve

I was doing a project this evening and about an hour Into I saw some imperfections I couldn’t live with so I stopped the carve and pressed the home button and it didn’t come back home. The router moved a tiny bit am error code piped up I cleared it and still no movement. I’m sure there’s a better way than restarting the machine but I don’t know it. Can someone chime in please.
