Can someone help me understand the tool setter and touch probe?

(Phone number redacted). Do I have to have a touch prob to use a tool setter?

No, they are two different things, touch probe is to determine the origin of your work piece and the tool setter sets the Z offset for your tools

Yes you do have to set the original Z. But you can use the paper method to set Z.

You can eyeball the X and Y as well, just depends on how accurate you want to be and if you have a ATC, many variables.

I have always used the center of my project to set material x and y and after the carve is done i use a profile cut to cut out the project. leaving enough room around the edge so that if i am off a bit in my centering itis no big deal
