Day 5 (bonus) of 2024 release week - Onefinity CNC Easy ATC by RapidChange ATC

Will the Onefinity Rapid ATC version come with the opening/closing dust cover or will it be offered in future? I don’t see them on the Rapid ATC website so I am not even sure if this is a factory accessory.

From what I understood from the live stream the other night, there is not one available currently. This ‘Onefinity version’ will have a dust shoe that should lessen if not eliminate a critical need for chip protection. Knowing Don, he probably has a few ideas!

We are looking at a dust cover design for the towers. The idea is that it won’t be necessary in most cases. We were encouraged to finalize development of the tower version by Onefinity. Developing our partnership with Onefinity has taken precedence over other efforts for the last few months. We just have not offered the new tower version on our website yet as we are in the process of revamping it.

I’m looking forward to purchasing and using your invention. Thanks for bringing it to the market

It says this comes with ER20 collets. I already have an ER11 spindle. Will an ER11 version be available?

No, this is the only one Onefinity will sell. Er20 only.

I see the dust shoe brushes are very short. I do lot of 3D objects that need longer bushes, 70 or 100 mm. Those short brushes would just not work. Are the brushes exchangeable?

How does this really work? What happens to the spindle nut?

My understanding is the nut is held fast by the 3 ball bearings in the tool pocket ‘collar’ and the rotational inertia of the spindle shaft threads the nut (and applies the need torque to the collet), and the reverse when the shaft/nut/collet/ and tooling are released.

So, that would imply that you would need an extra collet nut for each tool. Yes?

Yes, each ‘tool assembly’ in the magazine pockets consists of nut/collet/endmill. I imagine many will invest in several of such assemblies, with Etsy soon full of printed holders to these when not needed for the current toolpaths/magazine.

I have the BB controller (Onefinity Controller) with the Woodworker X-50 and touch probe, w/breakout board adapter. Do I need the pro series “easy adapter” ? It’s unclear to me during the ordering process. Thanks

Yes you will need the adaper for the atc to work on a bb buildbotics controller

Not true, the set includes the bitsetter as part of the ATC, so it will simply change the bit, and then hit up the bitsetter to establish the height difference. This will all be automatic, and should be included in the programming for the tool change.

I just ordered the Ultimate Elite Journeyman Promo with the atc, spindle & toolsetter, but I cannot yet see items for the additional collet trays to add say 4 more. I assume that will be available when the ATC is nearer to ship date, correct?

Eventually it will be automatic. Currently the BB doesn’t support a tool setter with or without the ATC. Once that is updated and the setter is working on the BB controller then you will be correct.

Doconefall, I have the BB and I setup my own version of touchpoint, and modified the macro to use it during a tool change to do the offset. Now this isn’t the spring loaded touch tool from 1F, but I don’t think it would be difficult to build a macro for tool change to use that, but I maybe wrong in that regard.

Will this work with other Spindle kits?

The only spindle we can guarantee and have been tested is the Onefinity Spindle Kit by Redline CNC. It’s also the only one that we can provide technical support with if you have any issues with the ATC. While any 80mm er20 collet spindle that can go cw and ccw may work, we will not be able to give technical support if you need it with the spindle/ATC.

If you value technical support, we recommend the Onefinity Spindle.

We hope that helps!

Ah. I was referring to the official Onefinity tool setter. Guess I was thinking too much in the box!
