Elite Upgrade Kit Ordered (discussion)

@OnefinityCNC

I see from @DCC 's post that he’s received notification of his elite upgrade kit (order #42639) arriving this Friday.

Are you shipping them in order? I am an earlier order number (#42623) and I have not heard anything yet.

Thanks,

Jay

I was 42628 had a ship notice for delivery on Friday as well. UPS managed delivery, but it now says expected delivery is 12/12. This is normal for me to have dates changed. So yours may be shipped any day now.

Do the update while you wait. The swap of the brake is pretty much plug and play. Same with the z setter. Get a few practice cuts/dry runs/familiarize yourself with the Masso while you wait. That is my plan. Upgrade here on 12/12. Then new parts shortly there after.

Still waiting for my shipping notice on the Elite upgrade. It seems that the original shipping estimate of 3 to 4 weeks was more hopeful than reality. I am not too surprised though as I am sure they as super busy trying to get orders out asap.
Not trying to complain, just super excited for the upgrade.

“Shipping estimate of 3 to 4 weeks was more hopeful than reality”

Yeah, The Shipping estimates are complete Garbage, and to be honest seeing people are already receiving theirs is a bit infuriating. I ordered a Journeyman back in October, 1~3 Weeks estimate, We are down 7 going onto 8 weeks, and every week I’m told “it’s in Queue to Ship this week” I had ordered before this upgrade was announced or available, yet the Upgrades get priority I suppose  Instead I just get more and more marketing Emails asking me to send them more money, but no shipment announcement.

Did we order the same package…? Mine was an upgrade from woodworker with a new Z-20 slider

Correction- Upgraded from Journeyman
DCC

Update- My delivery date has also been moved to December 12- - SAD days - I guess UPS is busy with the holidays…? RATS!

What we’ve done:

Sent out a small batch of elite upgrades first. We wanted to make sure the first ‘production’ batch was flawless, worked well, was organized correctly, and arrived undamaged and we could adapt and pivot before shipping a huge wave of upgrades. We’re just wrapping up feedback from the first batch and the next batch will be much bigger. We hope you understand why we took this approach, in the long run, we want the kit to be perfect at your door, rather than a poor alternative.

Question: If I purchase the drag chain upgrade for my X-50 and decide to upgrade to an Elite later can it be taken off of the Elite upgrade package?

DCC - in all my past several shipments, the first delivery date is always off by a few days as I think it is based on when they process the label, 2-4 business days… I am sure going through customs also has some bearing on it. I said from the beginning if I got it before Xmas I would be pleasantly surprised. So as of today I am still hoping to be a happy camper come 12-DEC. I added extended cables a few days later, as well, as I plan on keeping my Y-rails flipped.

Hey the Good thing is you have a Delivery Date! I ordered a full machine 2 months ago with a 1-3 Week Estimate Shipping and I have yet to See a date, just told Queued To ship this Week every week for the last Month. I’m thinking I might have to cancel before my 90 day protection on the Funds Expires, as I’m beginning to wonder if they even intend to ship anything at all.

Hey tkc
Email support@onefinitycnc.com and we’ll investigate this further Monday!

Well my 12/12 delivery showed up this afternoon as a suprise. 2 boxes. Of course I was unloading ½ cord of live oak at the time so I will have a busy Sat night and Sunday weekend ahead of me.

I appreciate this approach…
Mine just arrived but I have not unboxed yet- as I don’t work in my shop on Sundays. (I can use all of the help I can get - so I try not to offend the Big Guy on His day) I will unbox tomorrow evening - wish me luck.

So I got my Elite Upgrade, there were 2 issues but both solved with patience and an exactor, or flipping a part. And a warning for spindle users.

  1. The housing that hold the x and z connectors was a paint to setup. Turned out the silicone sealant used was a tad sloppy and needed some trimming to make work. A pain, but no big deal.

  2. the z axis limit switch went in fine but the bar that attaches to the carriage was machined backwards. Wouldn’t trip the sensor. Some trouble shooting later showed the bar wasn’t tripping the sensor. Tried swapping the part and it worked great. Hopped on email to let support know and they had already emailed me letting me know the correctly machined part was already being sent. Will take 30 seconds to replace.

Now my warning. The connection to the Masso controller is different than to the Buildbotics controller. You will need to acquire the correct cable and connector for the Masso. I’ve got an order in at Amazon but now have to wait.

All in all I am very happy with the setup. The Masso controller is a huge upgrade to the Onefinity CNC. I highly recommend the upgrade. Will update once I get my Spindle reconnected.

Are you refering to Spindle with this:

What cable and connector did you need to order?

Ta

The cable is a GX12-6P, and a 6 conductor shielded cable to wire the VFD to the Masso controller.

Hey Darroll,

No need to warn anyone if you assume that others Read the Fine Manual.

We have a search function here.

Purchase: PwnCNC VFD control cable

Yay,

I got my Elite upgrade kit delivered today and spent 5 hours performing the upgrade. Fired it up and it mostly worked :). I do have one problem that showed up pretty quickly…when I jog the machine all the way to the right (doesn’t matter where I am in the Y direction…I get an “X Motor error” when it gets to the right-hand rail and I have to engage and disengage the eStop to reset it. Any ideas what that could be?

I also thought I’d share my thoughts about the upgrade process:

  1. Kudos to the Onefinity team for the quality of the upgrade video they published…couldn’t imagine doing it without it.
  2. The packaging of the parts was amazing and made it easy to follow the video.
  3. I took my time and followed the video step by step and it took me 5 hours.
  4. The removal and install of the motors was by far the most difficult…there was more than one time I thought I might not get them installed…but, I eventually did.
  5. I didn’t see the prepaid return label in my upgrade kit…where should it have been located?

Thanks

Jay
