Issues with toolpath skipping

I have re-written my tool path a few times now. In the preview it is fine with the pocket being cleanly cut. However, once it on the onefinity it is leaving waste while doing the pocket.

Any idea why this would be doing this?

It would help us to help you if we knew what program you are using to create your toolpaths, You might also post a screenshot of the preview you mention. The more details you can provide, the faster we can zero in on your problem.

Hey SailorMike,
I am using vcarve pro to create the toolpath. Below is a picture of the preview and the toolpath set up.

Is your surfacing bit actually 1 1/8"?

Take a look in your tool database and make sure your stepover is set correctly for that tool. My surfacing tool is set to 75%, and gives me a good cut.

Like Avocado, my first thought was that this was programmed with a 1.125" bit, but then you put in a smaller bit in the collet.

Other possible causes:

  • Incorrect stepover programmed in CAM
  • You might be checking it on the PC, then reposting a new toolpath, but not actually overwriting the right file on the machine’s USB stick.
  • Machine and/or software set to the wrong units.
  • Material moving on the spoilboard
  • Pretty unlikely, but Masso could have the incorrect motor settings dialed. I’m afraid to mention this because when user problems are hard to find, it’s easy to get distracted thinking something it wrong with your machine.

When machining grooves on Onefinity, the presence of waste material may be due to factors such as toolpath settings, clamping and positioning, machine tool accuracy, cutting tools, or materials.
