I just received my brand new controller from Amazon to replace the one that we thought “might” be defective on the right stick for Z-Axis. The 2nd controller has the exact same issue which leads me to believe that it is something with the OF Controller or programming that is causing the issue.
The first time I tried it I had just booted the machine from the box. The only thing I have changed now is the MSG: on the pop-up dialogues that are more to my liking.
Myers woodshop just showed someone on the forum this along with video:
The controller has different ‘modes’. Sounds like its in the wrong mode. They are selected by long pressing the ‘horse’ logo button (the middle one with the blue 4 LEDs around it.) It must be in the Mode indicated by the 2 top blue LEDs being illuminated, not any other LED configuration. Press and hold it for about 10 seconds and it will change led locations. Keep doing that process until the top two are illuminated solid blue.
Ben This is the controller I purchased using your link above, the LED’s are Red not Blue and with the top 2 lit up the controller does nothing at all, if I go to mode 3 the “Bottom” 2 are lit up Red and it moves the machine as expected in X & Y Axis, with perfect control over the speed with the XYBA buttons but still no Z-Axis.
I have refreshed the Config file twice and rebooted the machine after each time and still nothing on the Z.

Now that I’m stuck with a controller I am unable to return (first one was bought over 30 days ago) so can you please confirm if I get the one in Ben’s new link that it’s the correct model number?
No worries but you might want to post something saying like “Anyone who used my link, you should try and return your controller if it’s still within the 30 days as it’s not going to work.” On the forum.
Glad I found this before the machine arrived. I used Ben’s link as well, but have a few days before the machine arrives. Anybody here into gaming? Got a nice controller - cheap
UPDATE: New controller came today (Model ESM-9013) and it works perfectly. I even tried the old one after the 1.0.4 Firmware (just for S&G) and it still did not work.
SO… Word of caution again, for anyone who might have used the controller that was previously linked in Ben’s thread, return that bad boy to Amazon ASAP and order the ESM-9013 or you will be like me, and finally get your machine and not be able to enjoy the full ease of use the controller provides.
No hard feelings Ben, your heart was in the right place!!
I am new to the Onefinity Family. Like really new, just tonight. I have been eyeing this machine for while and put another “highly popular” CNC on hold until I made the decision. I did not order the joystick controller because my now-grown kids left me with lots of Xbox controllers. Some original some aftermarket. Will these controllers work. I can dig out the models if needed but to put the age of this machine and controllers in perspective, they were bought about 13 years ago. If they will work is there anything else needed to make them work (i.e. dongle etc). Thanks for the help.
Just assembled my OF today. My kid has this controller and I tried it out. Works fine on the slow speeds. When I try the high speed, the y rails move for a bit then lock up to a halt with a not so nice sound. Thud. Wondering what I might be doing wrong here. Scared me half to death, so I’m just leaving it on any speed but high.
