No spindle for now so no Dust boot either?

I can do without the spindle, as I have purchased a trim router that will work with the shim I also had to purchase, in order to even use my high dollar Elite machine, and the ATC is also optional, but I will need a dust boot for sure. Since the delay of the spindle is not my fault, some kind of dust boot should be included as it is both a health hazard to the customer to not use one, and a threat to the equipment as well. I’ll send it back when I get the spindle. But I need something to be able to use my machine in the meantime, and these things are pretty expensive to just buy one for a month or two of use. In that same vein, what kind of dust boot will work on the new 80mm mounting but with a 65 mm router installed. after spending a whole lot of cash already It hurts to have to spend roughly an extra couple hundred dollars because the spindle I ordered will not come with the machine I am getting. A couple hundred dollars to use my machine for two months???

I had not thought about this till now. Dammit.

So now in addition to buying a router I didn’t want to use, I gotta double buy a boot too?

You can zip tie the dust collection hose to the router and run it that way. I’ve done that before in between breaking a dust show & fixing it :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: You can also run it without dust collection & clean up after or manually follow the router with the hose. (Have also done both of those for various reasons.)

Zip tie around flexible 4in hose will just squeeze it shut, it needs a rigid collar.

Good thing I have a 3d printer..

And I got a CNC so I DON’T have to be tied to the job for however long it runs. I want to be finishing the last piece or setting up the next one on my other bench in the meantime.

thanks jim.but ,my point was Onefinity should have some responsibility. we all ordered a machine

and now using them as they send them to us is not ideal.

kinda looks that way yup.

Hey @OnefinityCNC just what is the situation with this? My order included the suckit boot, the original not the one for the ATC, is there any reason these aren’t shipping with the machine?

You always have the option to wait to use it until all the parts arrive. If you choose to use it before everything is there, then it’s your responsibility to deal with the issues. Expecting them to pony up routers or dust boots is unrealistic. You probably could also have told them not to ship it without everything you ordered (which would have saved them postage/tariffs). I know it’s not ideal but they didn’t force you to get the router and start using it before the spindle arrived, they simply gave you an option in case you didn’t want to wait.

The only thing that can be laid at OF’s feet is their abysmal track record in projecting shipping dates. That’s been an issue for years and it’s not getting better. We all know that. We buy knowing they’re never going to make their dates and they’re going to do an Elon and continue to push delivery dates forward until finally things ship. Mostly we order because we don’t want to be at the end of the line when they finally ship products.

They’re still following a crowd-funding model but they’re not telling people that’s what they’re doing. They’re taking orders and then getting the materials needed to build the machines to fill orders. That leaves them vulnerable to all sorts of supply chain issues. It’s about time they started acting like a grown-up company build stuff, sell that stuff, refuse more orders when they run out until they build more stuff.

Suck it (normal and pro) will ship with your machine if you ordered one.
Suckit SM will ship with the ATC.

Awesome! One less thing to do before I get to cutting.
Thank you.

Wow. Just wow. You must already have yours, so you don’t have a dog in this fight.

I could sell you a car, you pay me in full today, then I ship it with no seatbelts and then tell you its your responsibility if you drive it before I get around to shipping them to you.

Would you be OK with that?

Did they force me to buy a router, no? But i also didnt spend several thiusand dollars to just look at the damn thing. And I never said a thing about “ponying up” fornthe boot or the spindle, I BOUGHT them already.

Why is it MY problem that I just want a functioning unit. Like any other product I pay for in full.

As you pointed out, this is concealed crowdfunding. If that had been the terms when they took my money, that would be fine. But that absolutely was not in any way disclosed or even hinted at.

I have the nighthawk dust boot i used for the makita router i will sell. I have the spindle now and a new boot for it.

and how much would you want for it?

I can do $100 shipped. It has the adapter for a 4" hose. I can ship it today. I can send pics to you as well if you would like.

sorry i am going in a different direction

Ok. Thanks for letting me know.

Ummm ..like a Cyber truck? Or even any Tesla with “full self driving” over the past 10 years when it was always (still is) “coming next year”? Everyone who has bought a Tesla in the past 5 years at least knows they’re lying about when it will be here. And everyone who put a deposit on the CT knew it was going to delayed, cost more and not meet the sales specs but they went ahead. When it came out 60% more with 40% less mileage & reduced performance specs, some were happy but 90% of deposits went away. Now Tesla has $200M of CT inventory sitting in company parking lots looking for buyers. OF prevented that by getting full payment up front. At least they still deliver.

But to be specific to your question, if I bought that car knowing the seller had a history of delivering late and short of important parts for use and I took delivery when they told me the seatbelts were coming later, yes I’d be alright with that because I went in eyes wide open and bear the responsibility for my decision to go ahead anyway. I wouldn’t butch because I had to buy aftermarket seatbelts and install them while I waited for the color matched truck seatbelts they were going to ship later. My choice, my responsibility. I wouldn’t expect them to buy aftermarket seatbelts and pay an installer. Would it be a nice gesture? Sure, but they’re not the ones who took delivery of the car without seatbelts.

A better example would be the car coming without a steering wheel (spindle) and radio (dust boots). I can’t drive a car without the steering wheel but I can without a radio. In either case I decided to take delivery. They shouldn’t be on the hook for offering that option for the customers who really wanted to get in the road now and were willing to install a steering wheel. Lots of customers might be happy they got that option instead of having to wait for the fully kitted our car to arrive.
