Updating via WiFi
Wifi:
If your controller is connected to your home internet, the controller will automatically find the update. At the top center of the screen the words: upgrade to 1.4.0 underlined in blue. Click that. Click update via web button and let the system do it’s thing.
Updating via USB
You’ll do an update via USB using the following steps: After downloading, DO NOT UNZIP THE FILE!!!
Copy the blue .bz2 file above onto a usb stick (it must be formatted as fat 32 or ntsf). Click the flyout menu (three bars on top left), general, under firmware click ‘UPDATE VIA FILE’. Select the 1.6.6 file.
If you are on firmware 1.0.8 or lower, it may ask for a password. the password to update will either be buildbotics or onefinity
Very important NEW step. You MUST turn off rotary mode to update. If rotary mode is turned and when you do the update, the configuration values for the A axis will get stuck and not install correctly.
Have you had any reports of bugs in 1.6.6 where the rotary mode gets disabled any time you upload a new file or folder?? I updated my controller via wifi yesterday and was running some jobs on the rotary. Every time I would upload a new file via the web interface from my laptop, the rotary mode would disable on the BB controller, and I would have to turn it back on via the touch screen. Wasnt a huge problem, but it was very annoying.
After more than five years of rock-solid service, the Original and Pro Series (with the BB Buildbotics controller) have officially reached end-of-life. These machines helped build the Onefinity community into what it is today, and we’re sincerely grateful for everyone who trusted them in their shops.
But CNC technology has moved forward in a big way. With the launch of the Elite Gen 2 Series, we’ve introduced dramatically better performance, smoother operation, modern motion control, and long-term expandability. Thanks to the efficiency of the Redline platform, we’re able to offer a far more capable machine at the same—or even lower—price than the older lineup. To keep innovating at this level, we need to put our development resources toward the future.
Your support does not end here. Onefinity will continue to provide lifetime support for every machine we’ve ever made. If you own an Original or Pro with the BB controller, you are absolutely still part of the family. We’ve got your back—always.
With the controller now formally discontinued, firmware development has officially concluded as well.
Version 1.6.6 will be the final public release for the BB Buildbotics controller.
This wasn’t an easy decision, but it allows our small team to stay focused on what matters most:
building, refining, and expanding the Gen 2 platform for the years ahead.
Thank you for being part of Onefinity’s journey, and for pushing us to keep evolving. The future is extremely bright—and we’re glad you’re here for it.
Any chance we could get a 1.6.6.5 that fixes the bug I mentioned above? Not looking for anything new, just looking for uploading of file to not reset the machine to non-rotary and lose the A-axis home/zero.
