Onefinity Has great QC

sorry to gripe but just unboxed my x50. I take the pcs out of boxes and set them on the bench. I notice right away that one of the y rails is rocking terribly. the feet were off by 1/16". luckily i seen a video about that. with the money i spent for this machine i should not have to take it apart and fix something right out of the box. they send a sign hand written on the back saying congrats, this machine was verified by qc and here’s the proof implying it was made on my machine. how could they make it with the y rail rocking the way it was. The machine was packaged very well so i doubt it moved during shipping. Sorry if I’m blowing this out if proportion. I was able to fix it I just feel I shouldn’t have had to. if this a problem they should note to check this and instructions on how to fix this.

Did you contact Customer Support about your findings or is this an effort to consolidate similar issues from other purchasers?

I can state that my machine, though purchased early in production, arrived with no issues at all and worked flawlessly after assembly.

Butch,

First off sorry our machine arrived in less than perfect condition. I assure you I as well as many, many other users can attest that this is NOT the rule but a rare exception.

Each machine is set up and tested. The test file that is loaded in your machine IS carved with your machine before it goes out the door. I think the issue you are experiencing is most likely from a FedEx/UPS guy not exactly being gentle with the boxes during transit to you. As you are aware they have a bit of weight and I know personally my UPS buy tosses packages on my porch all the time.

Just last week I bought a $246 MaillBoss 12g Mailbox that weighs 42lbs. When it arrived from FedEx it had a whole lip folded in and I assure you it left Mailboss in perfect condition.

Feel free to reach out to OF support they can provide more insight as well.

they were closed .I will follow up today with them. I’m not out to bash the product, I think the machine is very well built and i guess things happen. but I’m sure there’s people like me who never owned a cnc before and might not notice this or know how to fix it. I feel they could use better instructions also. They do not mention anything about squaring up the machine, tramming it etc. heck in their assembly video he puts all the screws in one foot and moves on to other things never mentions putting the rest of the mounting screws in .

I too have had my fair share of damaged packages. The machine was very well packaged and the boxes were in perfect shape but i suppose it is possible. i guess I was so excited to get it up and running it bummed me out a little. But I’m back to excited to get it up and running.

Every machine rail is assembled in our shop in Toronto on a granite slab.
There are two possibilities:
The most likely scenario is that the twist was introduced in shipping.
The other is your table top isn’t as flat as a granite slab.

The great thing is, it’s super easy to remove the twist!

Have fun.

I guess it happened during shipping then. I spent a lot of time on the table. I also switched it where the other rail was which was fine and it rocked there too. although there was no damage to any of the boxes i guess it could have been bumped around. I do feel that there could be better detailed instructions for people like me who are not real savvy in this things and rely on manufacture instructions for set up and assembly, squaring up machine etc. The forum has been great in getting info but it would be nice if onefinity provided this info. Thanks

Although not text based and on paper, the Onefinity YouTube channel has a wealth of approved videos that document most of what users would need to know, either before, during, or after set-up. I remember when I first was starting with my original Woodworker, at the time I didn’t even know they had a YouTube channel .

If it is a shipping issue, I can certainly relate. I recently purchased an inversion table which arrived with the box torn open along with one of the packages of parts. luckily the only part lost was a plastic cap, so no big deal. The point is shipping is always a nearly uncontrollable variable these days and I sympathize.

Trust me though, you are going to love your 1F more and more each time you use it. Stick with us on the forum as we’re here to help and for you to help all of us too.
