Pause, Replace tool, roll back a few steps and continue?

I wanted to see if this is something that can be done with current software. Say you’re in the middle of a job, the bit breaks, the job’s almost done. Can you pause, lift the Z axys, replace the bit and continue? Right now I have paused but I can’t move the axys anywhere.
