Post up them projects

Great job,
Where did you get the files for this? I’d like to try one in cedar.
Thanks, Craig

Very Nice! Walnut and maple make a wonderful contrast. I like how you included a boarder. Looks like you used an 1/8" or 1/16" endmill. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Rex! I was hoping to make the border a bit larger so I could inlay the notation as well, but it’s hard to find single slabs of walnut that are greater than 16" wide that also don’t cost a ton of money. If I make another I might laminate a frame to it then do the notation…oh the possibilities.

1/4" for the roughing and the inside corners were completed with 1/16" to get as close to square as I could with the bits I have on hand.

@A6ETram… He has it posted in a few places but I went with etsy 3d STL Models for CNC Router Dragonfly | Etsy

Note to download I had to unblock Russia in my router.

The problem with owning a cnc is that no wood is ever scrap anymore. Just a project you haven’t thought about yet. Had this piece of scrap plywood floating around for a couple years and figured out it just so happened to be chessboard sized.

Thanks,

I found it on Etsy and EBay. Did you have any issues separating the wings from the body in the STL, or do you have Aspire?

Thanks,
Craig

I have vcarve desktop… I just drew shapes around them as profiles to constrain the 3d toolpaths each to their own layers. I did not split the actual stl apart.

Thanks,
I’ll give it a try once the weather warms🤷‍♂️ I’m in MN and my shop is in the garage. I do have it heated but the snow on the cars makes a mess.

Craig

Wait… People park in their garages

First time post. Got my 1F in August '21 <edit. mistyped the year, they all run together> after getting back into woodworking with a little Sainsmart 3018pro the previous year. I’ve been getting a ton of mileage from the machine.

This is my most ambitious build with the 1F machine. A standing play train table for my nephew. I cut and carved the pieces for this build on the 1F. Birch ply. All joints are mortise and tenon. Includes a train yard turn table in the top. Finish is orange oil and beeswax. Compatible with BRIO train sets.

Kind of all over the place with projects, but here are the latest- I took the pic of the table right after spraying so it’s alittle orange peely?

I like the sand paper and sander caddy. Would you be willing to share the files?

no problem, I’m new to the onefinity community- what file formats do people usually use to exchange files? I create in Fusion and export as a dxf to create the toolpaths. But I can do whatever you guys use

SVGs are cleaner files - it’s a better file format for curves than DXF. It also doesn’t usually cause the scaling issue that sometimes arises when using DXF files that don’t embed the measurement units.

Wow Joe, this is brilliant artwork!

Thanks Jim! I’ve never noticed anything with dxf’s but good to know about the potential issues. I’ll check on creating svg’s in fusion tonight. I’ve never seen the option but I’m sure it’s doable.

On the orange pealing you can use some 320grit and sand it smooth then spray it again that will look great. I usually sand between each of my coats when doing a table to get the best finish.
