You’ve made some amazing projects. A gold star for you. Could you please tell me the name of the game in the first picture?
It’s Crokinole.
It’s really fun. Used to play it all the time when I was a kid at my grandparents. It is (was) really popular in Canada and seems like it’s making a bit of a comeback. You flick the little pucks to score points, trying to sink them in the hole, but other players can knock your pieces off on their turn just like in Curling.
Damn… I’m gonna have to make myself a board now. Lots of good memories.
Thanks Eric. The You tube link was very helpful and entertaining. I don’t know if I will try to make one but if I have the chance to play it I will.
Crokinolie - a game from way up in icy Canada. Kind of like table top curling without having to put your beer down t o make a move.
Thank you for your reply. Eric told me about it too. It looks like fun.
Damn Kevin, those came out really nice.
How did you end up painting them with those clean lines around the letters? I’m assuming the letters and outer ring on the Rams sign are pocket carved or are they separate and applied after the inner rings are painted on? Either way, very well done
Yes, I cut all the pieces and letters separately and cut pockets into the main board so I could paint all pieces separately and assemble. My hand painting would have been atrocious otherwise. Lol
A few more fun projects. I received my woodworker X50 in August and it’s been non-stop ever since. Everyone wants something. Lol
Well they certainly came out nice Kevin
Why, thank you very much sir.
I do try.
This weekend, I broke the replacement to my dust boot doing something stupid. I made this replacement. It’s rather large, I can make it smaller, but this is good enough for now.
Hey Kevin… Looks awesome. Love the Hip!
Thank You! The CNC and programming is the easy part.
The finishing and painting is the hardest part. I’m not very artistic. Lol
That’s kinda cool. Does it move up and down with the spindle?
yeah it follows the spindle. took me four iterations to get it right, this one breaks away if the brush hits a clamp.
Hey! What was your experience with carving purple heart? I have only been relief carving walnut and cherry and purple heart is about 1000lbs higher on the Janka scale and I’m a bit worried to try it out.
My sister’s cat passed away. She buried Daisy in her flower bed. I offered to make a marker. She didn’t want anything big so this is what I made. It’s cedar with black rust-oleum enamel and a clear coat of Helmsman’s spray varnish. It will turn gray eventually and still look good.
