That looks great. Did you use the black “white board” sold in big box stores or mask & paint?

@JimHatch - I used a cheap piece of 1/2" Sandply I had laying around, painted it with black latex, masked with Frisco stencil mask, Vcarved and then painted with white latex before peeling the masking. Both paints were eggshell finish.

Ty, I’ve only used purple heart a few times but it didn’t seem any different than walnut. I used same feeds and speeds that I do for the walnut. It seemed to machine about as well.

Thank you! Ill see about getting some over the weekend and testing it out.

Made a little tray thing yesterday with a v carved logo in the middle

Anyone know what kind of wood this is? I got it from a scrap bin at the thrift store

Looks like it could be red oak.

Looks like mahogany to me.

It is mahogany. I have a lot of it.

I know it’s not super awesome, but my first “official” finished project, from initial creation/design in Fusion 360 into the Onefinity, is a prototype for a beer flight paddle. A local liquor store owner is opening a bar, and she asked if I wanted to make some paddles, and I had JUST got my Onefinity, so I figured this would be a perfect start.

Could it be sapele? I’ve been looking at pictures online and I can’t tell the difference between sapele and mahogany. Here’s a pic of the front and back after I oiled it if that helps.

Here is a Last Supper I carved in sapele for reference.

That looks great, especially the detail and colour contrast. What are the overall dimensions?

The pot is 4” diameter, 2.5” depth. The lid is about 1/2” thick with 1/4 rabbet on the underside that fits snugly into the inside pot diameter.

The Lombardi trophy in the center, I made on my 5 axis CNC at work. Couldn’t have done it on the onefinity. Lol

A couple projects from today…

James Webb telescope primary mirror, which if my wife doesn’t take it will be in my office.

Made two of this little guy… Need to drill and epoxy in his springy tail and his pull string, but he’s pretty cute without it.

Love the dog, where did you find the design?

I made him after looking at some cartoon silhouettes of a side view. Made his twin last night too. Opposite color pattern.

This was my first project on my 1F Woodworker X-50. I was mesmerized watching it work.
