Greetings from a retired OSP Engineer. Really nice project, came out great.

Thank you. Bell System?
Nice box but where are the cookies?
Yes, Bell System. Michigan Bell, it was Ameritech when I retired. You??
They are all eaten
I started out as a lineman for Ameritech in Ohio in 2000. When they became SBC, they contracted out linecrew and put me in locates. When they became at&t, they contacted out locates and put me in buried drop crew. In 2009, they layed me off. In 2010, I got hired by Verizon in West Virginia as a fiber and copper construction splicer. Verizon became Frontier later that year. In 2018, I got into outside plant engineering. It’s funny that my paystubs from at&t still sain “An Ohio Bell Company” up in the upper-right corner.
That sucks about the first batch, those were really nice looking. And then when you were making bowls out of them looks the the Y was a bit off. Sometimes I find if the bit is dirty it can push the probe block a little bit before it detects it and throw the zeroing off, maybe that’s what happened.
Enjoyed the video. Looking forward to seeing more of your projects.
I’ve really enjoyed seeing everyone’s projects while I was waiting for my machine, and now that I finally have it wanted to contribute back with my first project.
One of my hobbies is making faux neon signs using LEDs and silicone flex tubing. I’ve tried several methods to hold the silicone in place, but I’m very pleased with my new ability to channel out MDF to hold the tubes, as well as carve out pockets on the back to run all the wiring cleanly to copper tape rails.
Everything else on this one was laser cut or 3D printed I’m afraid, just the channels on both sides were CNC’d, but all three tools work great together for their various strengths. As I get more comfortable with the Onefinitity I’m sure I’ll find more ways to overlap its abilities with my other tools.
The MDF after pocket carving, with a couple coats of shellac and rolled on black:
Some basic pictures of the sign, a bit difficult to photograph it well since it lights up:
The back wire channels:
And a shot of it mounted just for scale:
My first 3D carve, just a little test in plexiglass.
The skull is 1" tall. I’m really pleased with the amount of detail.
My first CNC/Laser Hybrid project. 1/16" tapered ball. 14W J Tech overlay photo on carving. Took a bunch of work to make the model. Then had to figure out how to get it all to play right in Vectric. Happy with the result.
We have a pinewood derby coming up and I decided to take on a personal challenge to do something over the top. Not done yet, but got a few roughed out.
Needs more batmobile
Is that a Kia soul?
Your probably looking at the Mini Cooper
Looks like a great use of a jig/template for repeatability, as well.
