@ropin3231620 What CAM software did you use to make these?

Thanks. We actually just found the picture in a svg and copied it to vcarve. As for the grain it worked out perfect for the design.

Here is a project I have been wanting to do forever. This is the kind of carvings I bought the OneFinity to make. It was created from high-resolution data from NASA’s LRO Luna Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Satellite downloaded and transformed into a 3D model of the surface of the moon with Aspire. Faithfully carved into solid Maple

Made a bunch of these to put in my Etsy shop this weekend. The 1F made it so easy to batch these up by V-Carving all the lettering first, then doing the pockets for the nails and cutout profile after paint and de-masking. Using stock stops and cam clams made quick, repeatable workholding a snap.

Engraving some 1mil metal business cards. 300ipm, 150 plunge about 8 min each… Still playing with the settings and font.

First inlay project - put together a few coasters. Picked up some 4x4 turning squares from my local Rockler (padauk and mesquite), cut out a few blanks on the bandsaw, and grabbed an off-cut piece of maple I had lying around.

It’s a little tricky, but not too hard. controlling chip-out on the maple was important (did the v-carving in two steps), and paying attention during finishing. Padauk has a very fine sawdust - I kept getting blead-out when finishing.

I can see why this style isn’t on Etsy (that I could see) - it’s a bit more work, but I like how they turned out.

What bit did you use for the engraving?

60 degree v-bit. Infinity 58-001. Follow this video if you want to make your own: The VCarve Inlay Technique - YouTube

Hermsen on my engravings I used a amana 56125 Solid Carbide Point Cutting Roundover 1/8 Radius x 1/4 Dia x 5/16 x 1/4 Shank Router Bit for the cards. The first few sets I did with a 15deg v bit that was working pretty good but this point cutting bit gives a better finish. I have the depth set at .093 past my start point. I am very impressed that I was able to engrave something 1mil thick consistently over a grid. The accuracy of the OF is awesome.

My son and his friend are opening an Etsy store. This is the first batch of small “test pieces” they cut from nice wood (instead of the cedar, pine and oak I had laying around).

Grand Canyon, Marianas Trench?

It’s a portion of Black Canyon. Not really sure where that is, but apparently it’s pretty well known.

Here are some of my custom cribbage boards. If your family and friends would like one go to Etsy. Search wisconisn cribbage boards.
